Time to grow: outwards at least.
With the busy summer months behind us and the pressure off a little, October is normally a time when we can reflect on the last few months, re-stock a little, and prepare for the larger winter commissions
How different this Autumn has been; the damaged and broken masts keep turning up for replacement, regular orders keep flooding in, and jobs we did not expect have kept the workshops running at full steam.
With the integration of Salterns Boats earlier in the summer, this too has forced us to restructure a little, having already taken on a apprentice as well as new boatbuilder starting early in November, we have also grown outwards and taken on a third 100' workshop. With more larger spars than ever before needing the full varnish system together with dressing, the decision was made to acquire the extra space and devide it into a dust free varnish area, a heated and vented FRP moulding shop, and additional internal boat and timber storage, giving a total workshop floor space of just under 13,000 sqft.
So now with Units 1, 2, and 3, we can accommodate more larger masts than was previously possible, and looking at the work we are currently contracted to do, I'm sure in six months time we will look back and wonder how we ever managed without it.
